Overview
Every Liketu post can have a place.
A pin attaches a photo to a place, with the privacy you choose. Those pins become Discover maps, profile atlases, place pages, community challenges, saved trips, chat cards, room/event maps, and more — all photo-first, all built on your Hive posts.
Composer pin
Add a place when you post. Pick how exact the public sees it.
Privacy precision
Exact, approximate, private-exact, or hidden. Approximate is the default.
Stable on Hive
Pin metadata lives in your json_metadata, in a Liketu-native shape.
Photo-led maps
Discover, profile, place, community, topic, trip, event — all photo clusters.
Social, not surveillance
Followed creators, saved squads, and community moderators get top billing.
Legacy import
Old Worldmappin and Pinmapple snippets parse safely with privacy review.
Composer
Add a place. Twenty seconds. Photo-first.
The place chip lives next to image and tags. Open it, search, pick. No pop-out maps. No EXIF auto-publishing. The default precision is approximate public.

Privacy
Choose how exact the world sees it.
Four visibility modes, five precision presets. The composer defaults to approximate public. Private-exact lets you keep an accurate memory while showing the world only the area. Hidden means no public location at all.

Hive: approximate coordinates only.
Public location metadata may be stored on Hive. Use approximate if this is a private or sensitive place.
Pin shows the area, not the exact spot. Default for casual posts. Public area is roughly 1 km wide.
Metadata
A clean Liketu shape, written to your Hive post.
Atlas lives under json_metadata.liketu.geo. The schema is versioned, the visibility is explicit, and approximate coordinates are stable per post — never re-jittered on render.

Approximate is the default precision
Casual posts ship as approximate public. Exact requires explicit selection.
Stable approximation
The approximate coordinate is derived from a per-post seed, so the same post always lands on the same area marker.
No EXIF auto-publish
Your photo's GPS is read on device only to suggest a location — that location is not published unless you confirm it. Photos identified as JPEGs are re-encoded, and known personal and text chunks are removed from smaller web PNGs on device after structural checks; if that check or rewrite fails, the upload stops instead of silently sending the original. Large web PNGs, native PNGs, and web HEIC may retain metadata, so upload processing is not a universal metadata scrub.
Tombstone on remove
Removing a place from a post tombstones the pin in Liketu maps. Past public Hive metadata may persist on-chain — the UI explains this.
How it ties together
One place graph, every Liketu surface.
Atlas is a layer. It runs through posts, profiles, communities, saved folders, chat, rooms, dashboards, and Hive identity. The places connect everything Liketu already does.
Posts
Every post can pin a place. Place lives in your Hive metadata.
Profile
A creator atlas grows from your public pins. A portfolio you live in.
Communities
Communities curate maps. Moderators feature pins, run challenges.
Saved
Saved folders become trip maps. Squads collaborate on collections.
Chat
Drop a place, a trip, a post-at-place into chat. No live tracking.
Rooms
Live rooms anchor to a place. Replays attach to place pages.
Dashboard
Place performance. Audience geography, aggregated only.
Hive
Open metadata. Stable approximate coords. No EXIF auto-publish.
North star: every pinned photo becomes part of a beautiful, privacy-aware social map of creators, communities, conversations, collections, and Hive memories.
